Transformation
This long-time client was looking for a magazine style backyard. They wanted to use the existing pool that was in their backyard, and desired to have a large area for patio furniture, a grand water feature, and a jumping rock for people to get into the pool. They also expressed a need for privacy, an outdoor kitchen covered in custom stone, and wanted the backyard to look like an estate when lit up at night.
The big hill that the house was built upon helped us in creating a natural water feature. The raised dining area with a beautiful pergola is perfect for overlooking the backyard and the surrounding area. The owners of the house also have a dog that was in need of a space for him to do its’ business with minimal maintenance. We decided to install artificial turf with a self-washing system. Some of the challenges that we faced in this project were the very steep elevation and finding a rock big enough to be a jumping rock. In order to deal with the steep elevation, we decided to use it to our advantage and build the waterfall and everything else to coincide with the hill. With regards to the big jumping rock, we ended up finding a perfect sized rock that could be cantilevered over the pool and allow for a safe, yet visually appealing jumping rock.
Overall, the client was very impressed with the overall product, and it is everything they ever hoped it would be. Complete with privacy, the existing pool, a raised dining area, a jumping rock, and a beautiful outdoor kitchen.
